Cellular add-on not reading the sim

HI Everyone,
We tried configuring email alerts through the Cellular add-on, however after entering SMTP information etc. the text alerting suddenly stopped working.
There was an error "Data Connection Failed".
After clearing the SMTP information, the error remained and SMS alerting wouldn't work.
I tried rebooting the cellular unit itself but now it won't pick up the sim card at all. The sim works okay on a handset.
The only thing that is different now, the SMTP Port is stuck and cannot be deleted.
Has anyone run into a similar issue in the past?
